Forest Edge Way is a loop of 0.35 miles having an elevation gain of 22 feet for the first half of the lap, so the intervals will have a slight uphill and downhill. The course is in a residential area, crosses no roads, has good street lighting and has little traffic.
It’ll be the 2 sets of 5 x 2 minute efforts with 1 minute recovery between each; 5 minute break between sets. -

Then 2 sets of 15 minute runs up and down the hill between Derwent Road and Daleside. One uphill run is about 0.2 miles. The hill run will be entirely on the footpath and won’t cross any side roads.

2 laps, approx 10K in total, with the Start and Finish in the same location. Grassed areas, plenty of woods, muddy in parts, with a few compacted limestone paths. Off-road shoes; studs or spikes preferable. Please share cars, parking is limited. Main entrance is off A6 (Duffield Road). The city council has forbidden parking alongside the main entrance drive. The main parking is in the wooded area, irregular in shape and not marked out – please park sensibly. There is an alternative car park at the top end of the park, off Woodland Road, and another at the Evergreen Club on Cornhill (DE22 2FT).

This week the hill workout will be on Violet Way. We’ll do 3 sets of 10 minute runs up and recovery jog down the hill with a short rest between each set. There will be a choice of distance up the same hill: 0.11 miles (180m) with approx. 60ft of climb, ave. gradient 10%; 0.26miles with approx. 120ft of climb, ave. gradient 8.5%. We will start from the MEADOWSIDE Leisure Centre at 7:00pm (bring coins for parking). We’ll warm up running to Violet Way via Clay St. which is about 1.5 miles. Or meet us there at Redwood Dr. on Violet Way.

The course is 2 laps of National Forest Land, approx 5.5 miles, mostly on grass land with a small section of compact path; there are some steep gradients. Spikes or trail shoes advised. Approximately 5 mile challenging course with a good flat and downhill finish suitable for studs or spikes.
Parking (limited so car sharing is advised) at RIS, Coleman International & Active Engineering; Shobnall Road (Opposite Marstons Brewery), DE14 2BB. These will be clearly signed and there will be marshals on duty.
Toilets & Changing: Available at the Shobnall Leisure Complex but showers are at a small cost, please be aware these facilities are used by others.
Post Race Results: Shortly after the race has finished at The Albion Pub, Shobnall Road DE14 2BE (upstairs function room), just a short walk from race finish.
Would all runners please remove dirty footwear before entering the pub, thank you. -

This is an annual event, instead of a club social run. Turn up on the night at 6.30pm to give enough time for you to check in, receive a pre-race brief and submit your predicted time. The course will be revealed at the pre-race briefing. The winner will be the one nearest to their predicted time. No timing devices or pacing devices are allowed. Please wear reflective bright clothing and observe your own safety at junctions. Limited car parking on-site.
The run starts at 7:00pm.
Post-run results, snacks and drinks will be in the Scout Hut.
The winner will be presented with the trophy at the awards night and get to keep it for a year. -

The 10km course is through the fields of the Anker Valley. It consists of tracks, concrete paths, grass, fields and a short section of tarmac. Stiles, gates and bridges to climb over add to the experience. The course is relatively flat and normal running shoes should suffice. The course is traffic-free throughout.
