Weston Run 26/02/2012

Sunny skies in Weston on Trent on Sunday the 26th saw five Red vested Hatton Darts supporting a local race held in support of the Derby Scout group.
With a healthy 217 runners taking part in the 5 mile event Hatton did well to take 3rd mixed team just behind Derby Athletic and Long Eaton Running clubs.
On an out and back course many runners were misled by the following wind during the initial 2 miles to be hit with slower times on the return journey, however this didn't stop all the competing Darts from accomplishing there set goals.
It was Jason Tilley who led the way and indeed the race for the first half mile, in his first road race since June last year. With a fast start Tilley slowed during the middle sections but was happy to sprint across the line having picked up the pace for final last mile making up a number of positions in 31mins 30 seconds for a solid 23rd place. Next in was relative new comer Mark Slade, with an expected time of 33 and a half minutes he was more than pleased to finish in 32minutes 47 seconds, 35th overall. Just 10 places behind, with the overhead finishing clock stating 34 minutes was a tired but smiley Pete Dawson.
Completing the team of four was debutant Lisa Townsend. In her first race as a Hatton Dart, having had nerves days before the race she set off at her predicted pace and did the red vest proud, bounding across the line in just over 40 minutes for 130th overall, a pleasing 19th lady she looks set to be a another solid signing just prior to the Burton and District Summer league races. Carol Sharratt enjoyed the spring like conditions taking 151st in a respectable 42m 44 seconds.
