The Malvern hills were the destination for 3 runners from Hatton Darts who competed in the Worcestershire Beacon Race. A gruelling 7 miles of steep ascents over mist shrouded hills before a tricky, fast descent down into Malvern town was the course for over 300 athletes.

Setting off in heavy rain Pete Wright kept up with the leading pack, powering his way up the winding paths and over Worcestershire Beacon before a magnificent finish in 49 minutes 13 seconds and 13th place.

Next back for the Darts was Chris Fletcher, who after a promising start slowed on the hills and lost several places. Pushing on, Fletcher made a determined effort and finished strongly for a fine 32nd place in 52:20.

Third finisher was Tony Press, whose recent off-road training was put to good use, gaining him a respectable 71st place in 57:50.

The Darts trio are already looking forward to next year's race and are recommending the event to local runners looking for a challenge.
