From A511 Ashby
At the bottom of Ashby Road, Burton (A511) Swan Junction, turn left before the old bridge and drive along to next island. Turn right and cross River Trent on new bridge. Saint Peters Bridge. Straight on. Follow signs for Abbots Bromely B5017.

From A444 Twycross
 Follow road to Saint Peters Bridge. Straight on. Follow signs for Abbots Bromely B5017.

From A38 Derby
Drive along A5121 Derby Road, Derby Street, Wellington Street turn right onto B5017 signed Abbots Bromley.

Notes
  • Parking is very limited and car sharing is essential so please encourage your club members to help us.
  • Limited car parking will be available at the Shobnall Leisure Complex which is a short distance from the race start.
  • The main car parking will be on Reservoir Road, directly opposite the venue. (See map)
  • Other car parking will be in local streets.
  • In all cases, please arrive early, follow the directions of the Marshals, think of other road users and residents.
  • You can walk from Belvedere Club to the race start.

Sinai Park,Burton was the setting for the second meeting of the Derby Runner Cross Country League. And despite home advantage Hatton Darts were up against it with depleted mens' and ladies' teams. This didn't deter the Darts as they rose to the challenge with the combined teams taking first place in League 1 with a gutsy performance.

Bitterly cold weather greeted the 300 plus runners as they set off on a notoriously tough course of stiff climbs and muddy paths. Darts were headed by the hill-pounding figure of  first club finisher Tony Caulton, who crossed the line in 7th place. Duncan Stewart ran determinedly, putting in a strong finish to take 9th place.

Next red vest in was Gordy Smith, back to his best form he gave his all for 32nd place. Nigel Elson was slightly disappointed with his 47th placing, but was happy to secure crucial points for the club. The engine-room support came from Jim Londesborough,who ran solidly for 52nd place, and Steve Clews who pushed hard in the latter stages for 76th.Neil McBride looks to getting back into form, running well for 94th.

Ian Jackson completed the men's team counters, finishing strongly in 117th place. Simon Elliot had breathing problems through out the run and was happy just to finish(167th). An improving Jonathan Gregson was satisfied with his performance as he dashed for the line to finish in 184th. The final Dart home was debutant Paul Brown, who worked hard for 196th.

The Darts' ladies continue to impress as they yet again put in a great team performance in the women's race. Jane Godfrey adapted well to the muddy course as she scampered home for 15th place.  Hot on her heels was Claire McDonnell, not letting her pre-race nerves stop her putting in another decent performance for 16th. Completing the closely packed trio was Wendy Freeman, putting in a fine run for 17th. Pam Chamberlain ran valiantly for 25th, losing a shoe in the latter stages she battled on determined to collect valuable club points.

After being promised a glass of wine from a club mate if she overtook a competitor Kath Caulton promptly overtook 6 runners to ensure a full bottle of wine at the finish.
